A friend's fight is almost over...

I may be on and off a bit the next few days. I have a concert I'm singing in Saturday, which is in tribute to long time arranger, composer, jazz musician  and all around musical genius, Jay Flippin. It'd been planned like that from the start of the season, but it might have a different meaning.

You see, several months ago, he had been diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. He's been fighting it since, but it's looking like the fight may be over. They've called Hospice in and are saying he might not last the weekend. He was looking forward to playing and hearing this concert coming up. He has touched so many lives as a professer at Morehead, as well as the Lexington, KY (if not the whole state) music and arts community. I know he's made a huge difference in my life, both musically and as a friend.

Anyway, I just want to thank everybody for the faves and let you know I'll try to fav (or if time really gets crunched, save in a message folder for less crazier days) as much as I can today and Fri. And if you have a moment and wouldn't mind saying a though or prayer for Jay and his family, I'd be greatful.

Jay passed away peacefully and in no pain this morning. A great man that I am going to miss immensely. Thank you for the thoughts and prayers.
