The Witch of the Jack O'Lantern Returns

 Entered in dA-Morgue 's ( ) 1st Annual Halloween Contest.




Last Halloween, we saw how she amuses herself by tricking and scaring potential "suitors" in "The Unmasking".

That isn't her only amusements, how ever. Being a witch is a full time job, even if she does her greatest of works during the time near Old Hallow's Eve. The planning, the gardening of the pumpkin patch, the stirring of cauldrons....it doesn't do it itself, you know. She has, over the years, developed a method of "recruitment" for the harder labors. Every so often, she'll go out into the villages disguised as a simple farmer's daughter and trick men and women into eating on of her "special" pumpkin seeds. Usually, that person dies soon after fo various reasons (a possible curse on the seeds, mayhap). Then, when the moon is full and the time is right, she'll use her Jack O Lantern totem to find these wretched souls and call them forth, vines moving long dead bodies along while a Jack O Lantern grows to cover their rotted heads.

So, if you're ever in a village and find and innocent looking girl offering pumpkin seeds, run. Just......RUN!!!!
